Everyone’s experienced darkness at some point in their lives. When we fall into those “sunken” places we often feel as though we can’t escape; begin questioning ourselves and who we are; and the worst, whether that darkness is even worth living through. So to anyone suffering from chronic depression, regret, fear, or hyper-insecurity in any area of their lives, if you’re reading this post, I’m letting you know right here that you are worth fighting for, that your lives mean something to ME, and that you have the strength to whether the storm. Whatever has happened to you in this lifetime that’s caused long term damage and trauma is only as permanent and powerful as you allow it to be. There’s a light inside all of you that is trying to be snuffed out by the darkness seeping into the cracks of your foundations, and it wants you to stay silent and suffer, but don’t let it. Every day that you wake up is God giving you another opportunity to take back control of your mind and become accountable for your own happiness. So don’t let the torment keep you in a chokehold. Open your eyes, get into your quiet space, cry, kick, scream, and yell for as long as you need to and let those demons know that you’re not afraid of them, and hold your head high. In the words of my pops: “Don’t punk out on you. No matter what you’ve been through, YOU are in control. Take accountability for your words, thoughts, and actions; forgive yourself; forgive others; allow yourself to feel what you’re feeling (but only for a moment); then keep it pushing. Keep it pushin’ princess.”
